Welcome to skluge!
Welcome to my CET staff home page!  It's an honor and a pleasure to join the professional and academic community at Georgia Southern. I'm very excited to be a part of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and look forward to working with you to improve student learning and to increase the satisfaction you derive from teaching.

Professional Experience:
For the past two and a half years I was employed at Macon State College as an Assistant Professor in the College of Information Technology. Prior to joining the faculty ranks, I worked for five years at Macon State in the role of Instructional Designer and Director of a Title III educational technology grant. During this period the Title III team worked with approximately 50 faculty from a wide variety of disciplines to design, develop, implement, and assess technology-mediated instruction. In addition to my tenure in higher education, I've taught both elementary and high school French as well as English to speakers of other languages in France. I have also worked in the non-profit sector as an instructional technologist and trainer. Having been engaged in teaching and learning in a variety of contexts over the past 15 years, I hope that my professional experience will prove beneficial in informing my approach to working with faculty and carrying out the mission of the CET.

Educational Background:
Although I am a new employee at GSU, I am no stranger to the campus. I completed my undergraduate work ( BA in French) at Georgia Southern in 1992. I am currently enrolled in the Ed. D. program in Educational Leadership (Higher Education Administration) at GSU.

In 1999 I was awarded an M. Ed. in Instructional Technology from Georgia College and State University and earned an ICAPP Certificate in Information Technology from Macon State the following year.

Although I have a strong background in technology and am well equipped to work with faculty to develop online courses and technology-mediated instruction, I am no "techie". I believe that technology can be a powerful tool to transform the teaching and learning process, but it should not be applied just "for its own sake."
