A little about me...
I moved to Georgia from Southern
California in 1989 with some friends to get away from the madness of the
big city. One of my first jobs here was working at the local Kmart as
an electronics associate. I moved my way up into management as the Human
Resource Manager, and during my time there I held several other management
positions. My past experience working in retail was very rewarding in
that it gave me the opportunity to work closely with the public, but I
needed to explore something more.
After a long career in retail
management, I decided to pursue an area of interest at Ogeechee Technical
College. I graduated with a 3.74 GPA in Computer Information Systems
in 2001, and I have received both my Microsoft Certified Professional
(MCP), and my CompTia A+ certification. In September 2002, I accepted
a position at Georgia Southern University School of Nursing as the Audio
Visual Technician, and in July 2005 I accepted the position of Instructional
Technology Support Specialist. Leaving the retail environment was very
difficult. In the years that I worked
at
Kmart I
made a lot
of friends,
not only
the co-workers I had, but the customers that became a part of my daily
life. In the short time that I have worked at the School of Nursing my
co-workers and the students have made me feel like part of the team.
I look forward to seeing the students and the Nursing Dept. grow in the
years to come.
What I do...
I assist faculty with online course develpment, scheduling of computer
labs,
and video tape class events. Some of my other responsibilities include
computer maintenance of the labs, software application support, creating
online
streaming
media,
and proctoring student exams.
My hobbies...
In my spare time (if and when
I have any) I enjoy building computers from the ground up. My first computer
was a Tandy 486/33 running Windows 3.1. I was so fascinated by this now
antiquated machine, that I wanted to learn more about it, and pursued
my education in Computer Information Systems. Some of my creative interests
are photography using Adobe Photoshop and Web page
developing.
