For this exercise you must have a funtional, legible printer
hooked up to your computer that can print from your internet browser.
You can use any computer in Henderson Library or the Russell Union
if you dont have your own computer. There is no need to
use the color laserjet printer!
Go to http://www.sciencecourseware.com/VirtualEarthquake/
and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the link
to Execute Virtual Earthquake. Read the provided information
carefully. At the bottom of this page, select one of the
four earthquakes (any one) and click on the graph labeled Submit
choice. Follow the steps and complete the interactive questions
so that you will determine the location and magnitude of your
selected earthquake using seismographic data. If you make
a mistake, and get an incorrect answer, do it over. To show
me that you successfully completed this part, print out two items.
One is the table that is produced at the end of a successful session
that compares your answers to the recorded (real) answers.
Then the site will ask you if you want a certificate. Provide
the site with your name and address (Georgia Southern Univ.).
Print out the certificate using your browser's print command.
Attach both the table and certificate when you turn in this assignment.
(You may be able to print both these on one page.) I will not
accept photocopies of these, they must be originals. Everybody's
answers should be a little different! Please
check your lab syllabus for due date.
