Information forthcoming.....

April Abate

As of September 1999, I have just received my Bachelor of Science degree
in Environmental Geology from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.
I was elected student delegate in the spring of 1999 and will serve my
two-year term from that date.
Currently, I am employed as a Hydrogeologist at Geologic Services
Corporation in Hudson, MA. I enjoy mineral collecting at locations
throughout New England. I also serve as the newsletter editor for
the Boston Mineral Club. My other hobbies include stained glass making,
cross-country skiing, hiking, and starting this summer, I plan on
hitting the coast of Maine to try my hand at sea kayaking.

Linda York, Ph.D.

I am a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Geology Department at the University
of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. My research involves a geochemical
technique (amino acid racemization) of dating fossil shells (Pleistocene
in age or younger). I generally work with shells from marine deposits
along the U.S. Atlantic coast, both onshore and offshore, and use the
dating technique to determine relative ages of the deposits. Prior to
working in the laboratory in Delaware, I had the opportunity to run an
amino acid laboratory at the University of Wales in Cardiff, Wales (Great
Britain). Living in Wales for two years was a very interesting and
enjoyable experience! I received both my Master's and Doctoral degrees
from the University of Delaware specializing in amino acid racemization
dating.
I have been an AWG member for most of the last 12 years or so, usually as
an at-large member. I became an at-large delegate in early October 1999,
replacing Kathleen Johnson. I attended my first Board of Director's meeting
in Denver on October 22-23, 1999, and as a brand new member, I am in the
process of deciding which committees to serve on.
In addition to AWG, I am also a member of GSA, AGU and the American
Quaternary Association. And in my free time, I enjoy walking, growing
flowers, and reading murder mysteries.
