ABOUT ME

I was born in Smithfield, North Carolina (Johnston County). I spent my first six years living in Selma, North Carolina (Johnston County). My parents moved to a house about three miles outside the city limits of Selma when I was seven. I attended Selma Elementary School, Harrison Junior High School and Smithfield Selma High School. I received my undergraduate (2 degrees) and masters degrees from North Carolina State University. I completed my doctorate at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

My career includes teaching high school in the North Carolina Public School System and teaching at two institutions of higher education: California State Polytechnic University Pomona and Georgia Southern University.
