My Accomplishments in English 1101
by Fatumata Sesay

My name is Fatumata Sesay and I was born in Liberia, Africa on April 24th. I moved to the United States in 2000, in order for a better education. I attended all my middle and high school years here in the USA. At first it was hard adjusting to my new life. I had no friends and all my peer took it a pond themselves to make fun of my accent. It took me years to adapt to my new environment, and I was able to go though high school making good grades with out any problem what-so-ever. I decided to come to Georgia southern university for many different reasons, one of the most important was because of the location. I do not like cities very much, and Georgia southern provides a close knit community feeling. When I singed up for English 1101,  I had no idea what to expect. I knew that my grammar was not the best, and that this class would help me improve that. Upon attending this class, I have learned a tremendous amount about English composition. The fact that organization is the most important, and you most put afford in everything you to get good rewards.

This portfolio is the last of the four assignments we had had to do in Dr. Walker English 1101 class. This portfolio is a compilation of assignments that demonstrate what I have learned in English 1101. By the end of this portfolio, the reader should understand that I have learned to focus on a purpose, write persuasively, and that I demonstrate proper use of writing mechanics. I will use the first three projects that I have completed as a testament to what I have learned. This class has taught me to utilized the resources such as peer review, office hours, and self determination. Also the amount of information and techniques I have learned in regard to technology will help me far beyond this class. There had been many times that I thought I was at the end of my wit and could not possibly work any harder on the assignment given, but I still find the courage to go on one way or another.

For the first assignment we had to introduce a technology to our classmates and explain how it works. This project taught me how to organize my thoughts and illustrate my argument using Microsoft PowerPoint. Following the first assignment, the second assignment was a argumentative essay we had to write. I decided to focus my argument on the danger of online dating. Online dating has always seemed like more dangerous and uncertain than just meeting people in normal social settings. Composing a web page, which was the third assignment, was also focused on the subject of online dating. This project taught me that the writing process involve a variety of technologies.
Below are the assignment and the instruction from my professor Dr. Walker.
