Certified Family Life Educator

The Child and Family Development major includes a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) option. Ours is currently the only undergraduate program in Georgia with the CFLE designation granted by the National Council on Family Relations. Graduates of the CHFD program who have completed selected FLE-related guided electives are eligible to apply for provisional certification status by submitting a transcript and application with a small fee to the National Council on Family Relations. This certification provides recognition of a CFLE's extensive knowledge base in the variety of issues impacting today's families. Upon completion of additional CFLE experience, those who are provisionally certified may apply for full certification.

Family Life Education has ten content areas:

Families in Society
Parent Education & Guidance
Internal Dynamics of Families
