Dr. Debopam Acharya is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Sciences, College of Information Technology (CIT) at Georgia Southern University, a Doctoral Research University under the University System of Georgia. He received his B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra, India in 2000. He then obtained his M.S. degree in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India in 2002 and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri Kansas City, Missouri, USA in 2006. Prior to joining Georgia Southern, he was a Software Engineer from 2005 -2006 in the Location based Services Group at Garmin International, Olathe, Kansas, where he worked on the Garmin Mobile project. His current research interests include Context aware Computing, Advanced wireless applications for Mobile Healthcare and Telemedicine and various issues in Pervasive Computing.
