Executive Summary Writing has going the
ranks of academic gatekeepers with its addition to standardized
testing. High schools are presented with the problem of how to
teach the skills needed to write for standardized testing beyond the
English classroom. This website attempts to put forth the
possibility of using letter writing to not only teach students a
practical writing skill that will be used in the workplace, but also to
teach the writing skills of clarity and awareness of audience and
purpose. These skills are inherent in letter writing as well as
essay writing for standardized testing.
Along with looking at the benefits of letter writing, this website also presents various resources for teachers to bring letter writing into the classroom such as links to lesson plans that involve letter writing in all subjects, business and personal letter format guides and generators, worksheets to help students with the concept of audience. |
