The Creative Writing Club at Georgia Southern University

 

Purpose (from the CWC Constitution)

1. To promote creative writing within diverse traditions which include fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, drama, and screen writing.

2. To assist in the develoment and application of critical reading skills.

3. To provide opportunities for public readings of students' work and to work with other organizations that provide such opportunities.

4. To promote and celebrate literature, writing, and reading from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds at the university and in the community.

5. To sponsor a visiting writers' program that includes public readings and also provides students wtih private workshops and discussions with visiting writers.

6. To sponsor festivals, workshops, or conferences that attract an audience from outside the university with whom the students can interact intellectually and creatively.

The Creative Writing Club creates an environment where writers can learn valuable skills and display their work to the public. With workshops and annual readings, the Creative Writing Club is the palce for any writer to be.

Membership

Open to any student of GSU who is enrolled in 5 or more semester hours at GSU.
